Operation Backpack

Join us to collect 7,000 backpacks for homeless children

 July 7th - July 25th!

Did you know that the number of homeless children in Sacramento would fill more than 90 school buses?

Operation Backpack aims to remove one simple challenge for homeless and at-risk students by providing backpacks stuffed with school supplies they need. A backpack seems like such a small thing, but to the children served, it makes a big difference.

Starting July 7th, you can make a difference in the lives of children in our community by being a part of Operation Backpack.

 About Operation Backpack

Thousands of homeless children go back to school each year without any school supplies. Since 2005, Volunteers of America Northern California and Northern Nevada and its community partners have donated more than 25,000 backpacks to students in need.

While Operation Backpack began as a drive to collect backpacks and school supplies for the children of Volunteers of America clients, it has since expanded to provide for youth served by many of our fellow social-service agencies, as well as school districts, throughout Northern California.
