Operation Backpack Northern Nevada

Help us double the 600 backpacks collected last year for homeless children in our community so they are ready for the new school year!

Thank you Reno/Sparks for donating more than 600 new backpacks to local students in need. Please help us double that number so we can help more homeless students served by Washoe County School District.

To learn more about how to participate in Operation Backpack 2014 as a volunteer or backpack donor, please contact Sandy Isham at 775-322-7143 or sisham@voa-ncnn.org. Thank you for helping a child in need succeed!

 About Operation Backpack

Thousands of homeless children go back to school each year without any school supplies. Since 2005, Volunteers of America Northern California and Northern Nevada and its community partners have donated more than 17,000 backpacks to students in need.

While Operation Backpack began as a drive to collect backpacks and school supplies for the children of Volunteers of America clients, it has since expanded to provide for youth served by many of our fellow social-service agencies, as well as school districts, throughout Northern Nevada.
