Steps to Apply

1) Weekly intake is on Mondays at at 8pm,.Individuals who physically show up at 1400 North A Street, building B, Sacramento, CA at that time and have all of the qualifications in hand (identification and TB test) will be given any available beds that night or placed on a priority list for that week.

2) The public can receive updated daily information on bed availability by calling the shelter at 916-448-5507. Call after 8pm to get any information that may be needed, like the number of beds that will be available for distribution that night. Or if there are none, they are directed to call back the next day.

3) When beds are available they are given out each night at 8pm on a first-come, first-served basis to those on the weekly priority list first and other daily walk-ups thereafter.

Volunteers of America's A Street Shelter provides up to 90 days of services for up to 80 residents. Services include shelter, meals, transportation, personal-need items, housing and employment services, in addition to life-skills and anger management classes. The A Street Shelter can serve as the entry point to additional services, such as transitional housing, employment services and more.
