Residential Family Shelter

During difficult times, we know that staying together as a family will help you weather the storm. That's why Volunteers of America offers a safe place where families of all kinds can go when they are out of options. Our Residential Family Shelter in Sacramento provides a safe haven for families struggling with homelessness, while helping you connect with community resources, employment help, and housing referrals.

Intake Process:

Intake sessions for our Residential Family Shelter are held each THURSDAY at Maryhouse on the Loaves and Fishes campus. Please arrive by 9 am. All applicants need to bring their identification and a TB test, and must have legal custody of children.

Mather Community Campus

Mather Community Campus focuses on helping formerly homeless individuals and families rebuild their lives through intensive employment and rapid housing services. The 12-month program provides transitional housing, case management, employment and life-skills workshops, educational and job referrals.

Intake Process:

To be eligible for entry to Mather Community Campus, you must be referred by a sacramento county homeless shelter, drug and alcohol treatment facility, or approved transitional living program (must be one year of less in length of program stay). All applicants must be employable as we are focused on training and employability.
