“Local Toy Drive Bigger than Ever”

2022 LES SCHWAB TOY DRIVE

Every December Les Schwab Tire Center hosts an annual toy drive in most of the major cities where they operate. Sacramento’s Toy Drive has been partnering with VOA for over five years and continues to get bigger. “This year was especially exciting”, said Steve, Les Schwab’s Area Manager.

“The Les Schwab Company believes that the stronger we make our communities that we’re in, the stronger the company is. This is part of giving back to families. The beauty of this particular event is that the toys we collect all get to stay with local Sacramento families. We wait all season to get the opportunity to do this”

The campaign also partnered with 14 other organizations. Our sponsors made a huge impact on the success of this event. The Sacramento Kings encouraged Kings fans to donate toys and they also had their mascot Slamson the Lion help deliver toys. CBS13 and Good Day Sacramento promoted the event on air.

The gifts were delivered on Les Schwab utility trucks with a police escort. An entourage of nearly forty vehicles drove from the Les Schwab store to VOA’s Veteran’s Service Center where the wrapping work began.

For three days volunteers, VOA staff, and board members worked to help wrap over 10,000 gifts. After the wrapping was done the gifts were delivered to families living in our VOA housing programs as well as partnering providers. Smiles were shining on the faces of kids who received new bikes, skateboards, and much more.
