14th Annual OPERATION BACKPACK® Campaign - Providing our area homeless and at-risk youth with school supplies

Thousands of children in the Reno area are homeless and return to school without the supplies they need. This impacts their education and their spirit. But YOU can make a difference. Join Volunteers of America’s Operation Backpack collection drive on Friday, July 13th during the Food Truck Friday event at Idlewild Park.Donate cash, a backpack, or school supplies and make a difference in the life of a homeless child. Idlewild Park is just west of downtown Reno, between Idlewild Drive and the Truckee River.

Operation Backpack will help kids in kindergarten through twelfth grade across Washoe County feel good to start their first day of school with a backpack full of supplies. This year’s goal is to collect 3,000 backpacks for Washoe County alone, and nearly 10,000 more for entire Northern California and Northern Nevada region.

Look for the Volunteers of America Operation Backpack tent and the Quick Space truck to drop-off backpacks and school supplies during the Food Truck Friday Reno Street Food event!

In addition to the collection drive at Food Truck Friday, nearly 20 other locations across the Reno area are serving as “drop-off locations” now through July 23rd including Bizarre Guitar, Caliber Hair and Make-up, Dickson Realty, Geodis, Keller Williams, Legal Match, North American Title, Remax Professionals and Great Basin Credit Union.
