Former Foster Youth Find Brighter Futures

Former foster youth face a variety of challenges transitioning into adulthood. Without a stable background, or mentorship, many struggle to find and keep employment, or achieve their educational goals. Volunteers of America provides life-skills, employment and educational help over a two-year program with transitional housing. All participants are required to work toward employment, education or both, with opportunities for paid volunteer service, or internships available.

Intake Process:

Foster youth may be referred by social workers, teachers, probation officers, or may self-refer by calling 916-879-1784. Intake coordinators can help former foster youth collect the proper eligibility documentation and navigate the process.
