A Message from VOA Board Chair, Nick Himphill

When I first walked into the shelter at Volunteers of America 19 years ago, I could have never imagined that I would be here, writing this message to you.
I was just looking for a break from the 24-hour grind of living on the streets, deep in my addiction. I wanted a place where my wife and I could get meals for a few days. I never thought that my life would change.
You see, I am living proof that the programs at Volunteers of America change lives every day. VOA helped me recover from my addiction, strengthen my marriage, and set me on a path to success. Today, I am honored to be writing to you as the new Chair of the Board of Directors.
I hope you know that your kindness has made a dierence in my life and in the lives of many others. I can’t thank you enough for the many ways that you have given hope to those in need. I am excited for this new chapter, and can’t wait to work with each of you to continue changing lives.
All my best,
Nick Himphill
