Meet Cindy: A fighter through and through
“Keep fighting, keep pushing, don’t give up. These words are Cindy’s mantra. In the last year, she experienced hardship that she never could have imagined. After losing her housing, she and her daughter, Meghan, slept on church floors for 6 months. Although Cindy was happy to not be on the streets, she knew that she wanted a more stable home for Meghan to grow up. That’s when she was referred to VOA.
This month marks a year for Cindy and Meghan living at VOA’s Affordable Housing for Families program in Roseville. Cindy says, “Without VOA, we would have been homeless for a lot longer.” Because she lives in an affordable apartment, Cindy was able to purchase a vehicle this Christmas and no longer has to use ride-sharing services to get to work. Three-year-old Meghan is surrounded by people who care for her. Thanks to our generous community, Meghan was spoiled this Christmas with a scooter and a bicycle. Cindy continues to work, fighting and pushing to fulfill her dreams. The generosity of VOA’s donor family and people like you allows families like Cindy and Meghan to have a safe, stable home.
