A Story of Hope: Kathy

Kathy, like many seniors in our community, lives on a very low fixed income. Kathy tried her best for many years to make ends meet, but as her health declined, it became impossible to cover even her most basic expenses. Sadly, Kathy was evicted, forcing her into homelessness. Recounting her experience, Kathy recalls “it’s a terrible feeling because you feel like there’s no hope.” Luckily, Kathy found VOA’s affordable housing complex. At Sierra Manor, seniors like Kathy pay only 30% of their income on rent. Now, Kathy has her own apartment, and can still afford to buy groceries, medication, and live with dignity.
