From Client to Vice Chair: Meet Nick

Nick is the Vice Chair for VOA NCNN’s Board. He is an entrepreneur, a business owner, and a successful member of society. He greets everyone with a smile and extends hospitality to anyone who comes in his path. If you met Nick now, you would never know that he once struggled with addiction and homelessness.

After living in a tent for 3 years, Nick entered into one of VOA NCNN’s housing programs. When he entered, he had 29 charges on his record. He had been in and out of jail, and, in his own words, likely would have ended up in prison. Instead, his life changed for the better. At VOA’s program, Nick and his wife were able to access and learn about many of the resources available to them. They became a part of the community and established deep friendships with others in the same situation. At VOA, Nick found hope.

He graduated from the program and became an entrepreneur, starting an electric company with his brother. Nick is now an asset to society rather than a liability. All of his employees are in recovery, and he is able to share his story with them, giving them a path to succeed. He serves an essential member of VOA, using his experience to better advise our operations. We are thankful for Nick’s service to his community!
